Granite is a type of rock.
Its chemical composition is made up of mainly Quartz, Orthoclase Feldspars, Biotite Micas.
The constituent minerals of granite, having cooled slowly near the earth's surface are relatively stable minerals.
Granite is relatively hard, because of Quartz - both chemically stable and hard, giving granite its mechanical strength.
